Hello to all of our beautiful fans, friends, and family!
This has been a great couple of months for us full of change and new direction! We are very excited to say that Mason and I will be moving to Seattle, WA in June! We are ready to expand our music to the west coast and are very excited for this new opportunity! We will keep you all posted on the new adventure out on the west coast and we will hopefully be recording a few tracks before we go! I have started a blog that you can check out by clicking the orange blogger button located on the R.H.S of our site and it will take you to my page. We will have lots of other ways for everyone to stay in touch and we look forward to playing a few more shows before the big move!
We love you all and we will have lots of new updates coming soon to the site soon!

Hi to all our friends and family!
Happy 2011 from The Key of Joy! The new year always brings with it new hopes and
opportunities and also gives us a chance to reflect on the previous year. For us 2010
was a great year of us growing as a band and in our relationships with each other. We had
wonderful opportunities to play shows all over Fort Collins – Odell Brewery, Tasty
Harmony, Hodi's Halfnote, The Rustic Oven, Avogadro's Number and even The Aggie
Theatre. We've also been lucky enough to be able to share our music with folks in
Boulder, Manitou Springs and Lafayette. We played several parties for great fans and
great friends and Lauren and Mason even got to do an acoustic set for Brewfest and New
West Fest! We've continued to grow our sound and experiment with different things –
those that didn't feel right we've moved away from, and those that really resonated we
continue to use in our music. And we are far from stagnant or settling! We look forward
to new music and new shows throughout the year and getting some of our music out
there to our fans! We've been working on getting the recording equipment set up and are
looking forward to recording some EPs throughout the year!
Well that's it for now – we're all anxious to share our experiences with you throughout
the year! See you out at our shows and out about town!

Today I woke up feeling so refreshed and alive!
Mason and I spent the evening yesterday in the beautiful Boulder, CO. We had gone down to have my guitar repaired at a place called Woodsongs. They were incredibly nice and I felt so comfortable leaving my guitar in their hands.
After that we ended up going to surprise our brother Evan at the amazing restaurant he works at called SALT. We had the most delicious dinner that left us feeling so satisfied yet healthy at the same time. Evan has come up with a very unique cocktail menu that I recommend everyone go to Boulder and try! Thank you so much Ev for the awesome night!! Friday is coming up which means...KINFOLKS! Hooray! We can't wait to see all of you in Manitou from 8-10pm. It's going to be an eclectic night of great people, a wonderful venue, and beautiful music that we are so excited to share with you all!
We love you and hope to see you in just a few days,
-Lauren

I am so excited for Wednesday!
Odell's has been so good to The Key of Joy and it is indeed one of my favorite places to play. Great beer and a wonderful staff make each show a great experience. Since we last played there some new material from Lauren has sparked a change in our style. The latest songs have this acoustic hip-hop feel, and it really allows me to open up as a drummer. I have had a refreshingly challenging time learning new beats and adding more electronic sounds to the acoustic drums. This will be a great opportunity for those of you who haven't seen us in a while to come out and hear the new songs! And of course we will still play Odell staff favorites, like "Fraggle Rock" and "Ghostbusters."
Hope to see you Wednesday afternoon!
-Mason

What a beautiful Tuesday Morning!
I woke up today feeling so blessed to be living in Colorado. I walked out into our yard and took a breath of fresh mountain air, and really felt so alive. It has left me inspired to play some music this morning and to write to all of you.
These 1st couple shows we have played warmed my heart. It was so wonderful to be able to release our music to so many of our loved ones who truly care about our passion for playing. I am overjoyed that we have these opportunities this month to play out in the scene, and I am really looking forward to sharing more of our music with all of you. I hope everyone is enjoying this wonderful day, and that it holds many blessing for all of you!
One Love,
-Lauren

Hello to all of you on this crisp soon to be fall Friday morning!
There are occasional times throughout life where everything seems to gel and you seem to step outside of yourself and upon looking back at what you are doing you can hardly believe that it is happening. As was the case with yesterday's show at the Cork. It's hard to predict how well a show is going to go over, no matter how excited we are during practice. With the addition of a new member to the band and several brand new songs, we couldn't wait to get out there and share them with the good friends and family that have supported us thus far. The joy of playing and the wonderful compliments we received from all of you after the show gives us even more energy to move forward with our sound and continue to share it with the world.
Rock on – I say to you, our fans, - because we definitely will.
-Dave :)

September is going to be a great month for us, with lots of shows, so if your free we would love for you to come out and support our music.
This Sunday Mason and I will be playing as a duo for the wonderful music festival New West Fest! We will be on the Acoustic stage from 5:30-6:00pm, and we are very excited to be apart of this amazing event.
Thank you so much again to all of you for your ongoing support in what we do. Hope to see you at a show soon!

Ahh, summer in Colorado. As I write this, I'm sitting in the sun on a beautiful 72 degree afternoon, on the patio of Choice City, enjoying a delicious buffalo Ruben and a refreshing St Lupulin.
It's the start of the festival season in Fort Collins and live music abounds. Tonight we're playing a rocking set over at Hodi's full of the new original tunes we've been working on the last couple months. Next week (Thursday evening) we're super excited to play the Ignite Fort Collins event – think local "TED Talks" with beer – and then heading down to Manitou Springs Saturday, June 19th to rock out at Kinfolks! June is turning out to be a great month for The Key of Joy and we're looking forward to a fabulous July and August to follow.
Come out at see us at our shows, or just run into us downtown while we enjoy the scene that is summer in Fort Collins. Either way, make sure to say hi!
Much love,
-Dave

Happy last week of April to all of you!
It’s been a pretty crazy last couple of days for us – getting ready for our show down in Manitou only to have the road down completely closed due to ridiculous amounts of snow! And of course the very next day I was out enjoying the beautiful weather in shorts and a t-shirt. That’s Colorado for you.
Today’s been a great day – I’ve been listening to Paper Bird and the Ditty Bops all day long – happy music to put anybody in a great mood – and I wanted to take a quick break to write this and start getting the word out for our big show next month down in Lafayette at Nissi’s!!! We’re super excited to play there – some of my favorite local area acts have played there including Nina Storey, Hazel Miller, Katie Herzig and Liz Barnez, and now we get to add our name to the list! It’s going to be a great show – but we need your help to make it really rock. We need to get 60 people in the door, so if you’ve been waiting to see us now is the time! Please mark it on your calendars – it’s a great opportunity for all of you who live down in the Denver/Boulder area to come out and see us, and we’re even going to get a car pool going for all you fans up in the Fort.
Details: JUNE 2nd – 7:30pm, $5, ALL AGES!!!
You can go to Nissi’s website to purchase tickets, or get them at the door the night of the show.
http://www.nissis.com/
For fans in Fort Collins if you’d like to get in on the carpool we’re trying to organize, just shoot us an email at: thekeyofjoy@hotmail.com
Hope you’re all doing spectacularly on this last Monday in April!
Cheers!
Dave

Hey everybody!
I just got back into town after taking a fantastic trip out to Montana to play music for a long weekend with a bunch of premier players from around the country. It was a great time playing keyboards, piano, harmonica, guitar, mandolin and some percussion, jamming on some great original tunes that the players brought from their repertoire as well as covers ranging from The Beatles, Led Zepplin, and Frank Zappa all the way to the Brazilian guitarist Seu Jorge. Weeks like that are truly inspiring and it was a great treat to arrive back in the Fort and set up with the band to find an amazing new tune that Lauren wrote called "In the Middle" waiting. It was a great practice last night and we're extremely excited for an April full of shows around Colorado! Hope to see you at some of them!
Dave :)
